For more than 80 years, CARE has responded to major humanitarian emergencies through rapid action, deep local partnerships, and long-term recovery. Explore several of CARE’s current priority responses below.
Colombia Earthquake
The Situation: A powerful earthquake struck western Colombia on August 10, damaging homes, hospitals, schools, roads, and other critical infrastructure and displacing families.
CARE’s Response: CARE is providing cash and voucher assistance, emergency supplies, health and psychosocial support, and protection services. CARE has worked in Colombia since 1954 and is drawing on established local partnerships and humanitarian capacity to reach affected communities quickly.
Lebanon: Mass Displacement
The Situation: More than 1.2 million people have been displaced in Lebanon, with shelters stretched nearly to capacity and families facing growing food insecurity and disrupted access to basic services.
CARE’s Response: CARE and local partners are providing food, clean water, hygiene and dignity supplies, shelter assistance, healthcare, protection, and livelihoods support. CARE has worked in Lebanon since 2006, building the local partnerships and response capacity needed to support families through repeated periods of crisis and displacement.
Sudan Conflict
The Situation: Sudan remains the world’s largest humanitarian and displacement crisis, with 33.7 million people requiring assistance and more than 11.4 million displaced.
CARE’s Response: CARE is implementing 21 humanitarian projects across nine states, providing health, nutrition, water and sanitation, shelter, food security and livelihoods, protection, and cash assistance. CARE has worked in Sudan since 1979 and has expanded its response through partnerships with more than 30 national and local organizations.

CARE is also responding to other major humanitarian emergencies where needs remain acute and conditions continue to evolve.
Venezuela
Following the recent earthquakes, CARE and trusted local partners are supporting urgent health, protection, shelter, and basic-needs responses while helping communities move toward longer-term recovery. CARE’s approach emphasizes locally led delivery, restored services, livelihoods, and community resilience.
Gaza & the West Bank
CARE and its partners have reached more than one million people in Gaza since October 2023 with water, food, health, hygiene, shelter, protection, and cash assistance, while continuing support in the West Bank amid severe access constraints and ongoing humanitarian needs.
